Is a flyback transformer AC or DC?

A flyback transformer is designed to handle both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) signals, but its operation primarily involves converting DC to AC.

In most applications, a flyback transformer is used in conjunction with a switching circuit, such as a flyback converter or a flyback power supply. In these circuits, a DC input voltage is switched on and off rapidly by a semiconductor switch (such as a transistor or a MOSFET). When the switch is turned on, energy is stored in the transformer’s primary winding as magnetic flux. When the switch is turned off, the stored energy is released and transferred to the secondary winding, resulting in an AC output voltage.

So, while the primary input to a flyback transformer is usually DC, its operation involves the generation of AC output. Therefore, it’s more accurate to describe a flyback transformer as a component that facilitates the conversion of DC to AC.We are specialized in the production and development of flyback transformer manufacturers, Pingxiang Cheng product Technology Co., LTD
